Oh Baby! Our Busiest Kitten Season Yet!

First we had 50… then 70… and now…

So many kittens!

Vinyl was found outside a record store!

As part of our mission to reduce the number of feral cats through trap-neuter-return (TNR), each year we find homes for as many adoptable kittens and cats as possible. Some we are able to trap with their momma, who may also be lucky enough to find a home of her own. Others, like little Vinyl, are discovered huddled up all alone, in busy streets and parking lots, and brought into our care. Each individual kitten and litters small and large require an enormous amount of love and resources to bring them up healthy and happy and ready for adoption. Our first “Kitten Shower” adoption event of the summer was held on June 6th at our facility in Nay Aug Park, but with so many kittens, we will be having many more. Please follow our Facebook Page for the most up-to-the-minute information about such events, as well as to see all of the new faces looking for homes!

Our Nay Aug Park facility is also open to visitors every Wednesday from from 11AM to 5PM, or call 570-604-4008 to make an appointment for another time.

As you may expect, we are extremely grateful for all who volunteer their time, financial support, and supplies to help care for all of these kittens and cats. Although we fundraise at every opportunity, we rely so much on your generous donations. To show how your help helps all these babies, we have broken down the costs of supplies for an average litter of four average kittens for their first eight weeks with us:

That comes to $714 for each litter, or $178 for an individual kitten! These costs, of course, do not include utilities for our building, quarantine supplies like gowns, gloves, and booties, or general supplies like litter boxes, scoops, food and water dishes, or toys. We are always thankful for donations of the following supplies, or you can order direct from our Amazon wish-list!

And nobody is more grateful than our kittens!

Although all of the kittens passing through our care are wonderful — and will make wonderful pets in their new homes — the sheer amount of babies serves as a reminder how important it is to spay and neuter both our pet cats and the feral cats who live in our neighborhoods. The Eastern Pennsylvania Animal Alliance offers convenient and affordable spay and neuter services through their travelling clinic. Please check out their website for more information about their upcoming locations!

And keep an eye out here for yes, more kittens!

We will have hand sanitizer for everyone to use and also gloves if you prefer. If you feel sick or think you have been exposed to Covid-19, please stay home.
